Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a public speech writer. She was the creator of Feminist Frequency which includes videos and comments on portrayals of women in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Aiming to dispel the myths that are associated with women in pop media, she is also working on issues related the harassing women targeted by the media and different classes of individuals on the internet. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in social thought and politics from York University. She is also a highly-respected public speaker. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was interested in gender issues and feminism at a early time. In 2009, while continuing to study at the university level she started her Feminist Frequency site. An ambitious woman who wanted to create a web series that examined the gender representation of video games was targeted in the internet campaign. The attack did have been a hindrance, rather it was a boost to her determination as a feminist media critic. Sarkeesian has been awarded numerous awards to recognize her notable contributions to the field of feministism.
