Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant, as well as mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), one of the contestants in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena, his younger sister is also drummer. Lee was only two years old when his dad moved his family to California. He also received his first drumsticks at the age of four, and his first drum set when he was sixteen. In order to pursue a career as musician He dropped out of high school and joined the L.A. nightclub band Suite 19. When he was a teenager He listened to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. The main influences on his drumming include John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
